FAQ
What is the BETA THREE MB3 Magic Box?
MB3 is a true 3-way, battery-powered portable PA speaker with built-in mixer-style connectivity. It is designed for singers, musicians, buskers, music teachers, worship teams, event hosts, cafés, rehearsals and small live performances.
It combines an 8-inch woofer with a 5-inch and 1-inch coaxial mid/high-frequency unit, helping vocals, instruments and backing tracks remain clear and balanced across the full mix.
Why does MB3 use a true 3-way speaker system?
A true 3-way system assigns low, middle and high frequencies to dedicated drivers.
The 8-inch woofer handles the low end, while the separate midrange and high-frequency drivers help vocals and instruments sound more natural and defined. This is especially useful when playing voice, instruments and backing tracks through the same speaker.
Instead of forcing one small driver to reproduce everything, MB3 is designed to keep the mix clearer from the bass through the vocal range and upper frequencies.
Is one MB3 enough for my performance?
One MB3 is suitable for many solo performances, busking sessions, rehearsals, classrooms, cafés, presentations and small events.
The result will depend on the room, audience size, background noise, speaker position and required volume. For wider coverage, stereo playback or larger spaces, the DUO setup with two MB3 speakers is the better choice.
If you are unsure, contact us with your venue size, audience size and intended use. We can help recommend a suitable setup.
Can I connect a microphone, instrument and music at the same time?
Yes.
MB3 includes:
* 3 × XLR/TRS combo inputs;
* 3.5 mm auxiliary input;
* Bluetooth audio playback;
* XLR Main Input and Main Output.
A typical solo setup could include:
* Vocal microphone;
* Guitar or keyboard;
* Backing tracks from a phone.
For many small performances, this means you can work without carrying a separate external mixer.
Do I need an external mixer?
Not necessarily.
MB3 is designed to handle common microphone, instrument and playback setups directly through its onboard inputs.
You may still prefer an external mixer if you need:
* More than three main input sources;
* More advanced channel routing;
* Multiple monitor mixes;
* Detailed multiband processing;
* A larger band or more complex event setup.
For solo performers, duos, teachers, hosts and small performances, MB3 can often be used as a self-contained sound system.
Does MB3 include reverb and feedback control?
Yes.
MB3 includes built-in Reverb and an Anti-Feedback Notch function. Reverb can add space and depth to vocals or instruments, while the anti-feedback function helps manage problematic frequencies in reflective or challenging performance environments.
Correct microphone placement and speaker positioning are still important. No feedback-control system can completely compensate for placing a live microphone directly in front of the speaker at high volume.
How powerful is MB3?
MB3 is rated at:
* 200W RMS;
* 400W music power;
* 800W peak power;
* Up to 110dB SPL and 116dB peak at 1 metre.
It is designed to provide confident output for portable live sound, rehearsals, busking, cafés and small events without requiring a large traditional PA system.
Actual perceived volume and coverage depend on the room, placement, programme material and listening distance.
How long does the battery last?
MB3 provides up to 8 hours of battery operation under suitable operating conditions.
Actual battery life varies according to:
* Playback volume;
* Programme material;
* Connected inputs;
* Battery condition;
* Operating temperature;
* Usage of Bluetooth and onboard processing.
Higher continuous output will normally reduce the total operating time.
Can MB3 be used as a floor monitor or mounted on a stand?
Yes.
MB3 supports three practical placement options:
* Upright as a main PA speaker;
* Angled on the floor as a wedge monitor;
* Mounted on a compatible speaker stand.
For better audience coverage, raising the speaker above waist level and aiming it toward the listening area is generally more effective than placing it directly on the floor.
Can I connect two MB3 speakers?
Yes.
Two MB3 speakers can be used to increase coverage or create a wider stereo setup.
MB3 supports:
* True Wireless Stereo pairing between two compatible MB3 units;
* Wired system expansion through XLR Main Input and Main Output.
For important live events, wired linking may provide the most predictable connection. Wireless stereo is useful when you want a cleaner setup with fewer signal cables.
Is MB3 suitable for busking and outdoor performance?
Yes. MB3 is battery-powered, portable and designed for mobile performance applications such as busking, pop-up events and outdoor sessions.
However, MB3 is not promoted as waterproof. It should be protected from rain, liquid, excessive moisture, extreme heat and other unsuitable environmental conditions.
Outdoor coverage also depends heavily on surrounding noise and the absence of walls to reinforce the sound.
How portable is MB3?
MB3 weighs approximately 7.5kg and measures:
259 × 292 × 390mm
The integrated portable format makes it easier to carry than a conventional speaker, mixer and monitor system transported separately.
For frequent travel or mobile performances, the GIG READY setup adds a speaker stand and carry bag.

Been using the MB3 for two weeks now, really satisfied. The sound quality exceeded my expectations — the bass is punchy without being boomy, and vocals are very clear. The built-in mixer is super convenient — just plug in a microphone and guitar, and you're ready to perform on the go. It's compact and easy to carry. Totally worth the price. Highly recommend to fellow musicians who perform at different venues.
